The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 is amended by adding the following after section 117: Prohibition of phosphorous 117.1 (1) No person shall (a) manufacture for use or sale in Canada a laundry detergent or a dishwashing detergent that contains phosphorus; (b) import a laundry detergent or a dishwashing detergent that contains phosphorus; or (c) sell a laundry detergent or a dishwashing detergent that contains phosphorus. Coming into force (2) Paragraphs (1)(a) and (b) come into force 180 days after the day on which this Act receives royal assent. Coming into force (3) Paragraph (1)(c) comes into force 360 days after the day on which this Act receives royal assent. 2. The portion of subsection 119(1) of the Act before paragraph (a) is replaced by the following: Remedial measures 119.
