Section 10 of the Employment Insurance Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (2): Adjustment for unemployment rate (2.1) The benefit period established by subsection (2) is increased by (a) 2 weeks for every percentage point by which the regional rate of unemployment exceeds 4% but does not exceed 10%, and (b) 3 weeks for every percentage point by which the regional rate of unemployment exceeds 10%, subject to a maximum period of 52 weeks.
