This Act may be cited as the National Strategy for Autism Spectrum Disorder Act. NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER Obligation 2. The Government of Canada shall establish a national strategy for autism spectrum disorder that includes: (a) the establishment, in cooperation with the provincial governments, of national standards for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder and the delivery of related services; (b) the study, in cooperation with the provincial governments, of the funding arrangements for the care of those with autism spectrum disorder, including the possibility of transferring federal funds to assist the provincial governments in providing treatment, education, professional training and other required supports for Canadians with autism spectrum disorder free of charge and within a reasonable period of time; (c) the creation of a national medical surveillance program for autism spectrum disorder to be managed by the Public Health Agency of Canada; and (d) an estimate of the funding required for health research into treatments for autism spectrum disorder and for the delivery of related services. COMING INTO FORCE Coming into force 3. This Act comes into force on the day following the day it receives royal assent.
