Short Title Criminal Code Coming Into Force First Session, Forty-second Parliament, 64-65 Elizabeth II, 2015-2016 HOUSE OF COMMONS OF CANADA BILL C-221 An Act to amend the Criminal Code (sports betting) FIRST READING, FEBRUARY 17, 2016 Mr. Masse 421036 SUMMARY This enactment repeals paragraph 207(4)‍(b) of the Criminal Code to make it lawful for the government of a province, or a person or entity licensed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council of that province, to conduct and manage a lottery scheme in the province that involves betting on a race or fight or on a single sport event or athletic contest. R.‍S.‍, c. C-46 Criminal Code 2 Subsection 207(4) of the Criminal Code is amended by adding “or” at the end of paragraph (a) and by repealing paragraph (b).
