Available on the House of Commons website at the following address: www.ourcommons.ca 1st Session, 42nd Parliament, 64-65-66-67 Elizabeth II, 2015-2016-2017-2018 HOUSE OF COMMONS OF CANADA BILL C-403 An Act to designate the month of November as Diabetes Awareness Month Preamble Whereas one in four Canadians lives with prediabetes or diabetes, a chronic disease that can result in life-threatening complications if not treated; Whereas diabetes awareness and education can help people identify early signs of diabetes and thus prevent or delay its onset; And whereas Canada, the birthplace of insulin — a hormone that plays a key role in the control of diabetes —, seeks to be a leader in promoting diabetes awareness by designating the month of November as Diabetes Awareness Month; Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada enacts as follows: Short Title Short title 1 This Act may be cited as the Diabetes Awareness Month Act. Diabetes Awareness Month Diabetes Awareness Month 2 Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the month of November is to be known as “Diabetes Awareness Month”.
