Available on the House of Commons website at the following address: www.ourcommons.ca 2nd Session, 43rd Parliament, 69 Elizabeth II, 2020 HOUSE OF COMMONS OF CANADA BILL C-250 An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 (anchorage prohibition) Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows: 2001, c. 26 Canada Shipping Act, 2001 1 The Canada Shipping Act, 2001 is amended by adding the following after section 23: Anchorage Prohibition Definition of prohibited waters 23.‍1 (1) In this section, prohibited waters means the waters described in Schedule 1.‍1.‍ Anchoring in prohibited waters (2) No person shall anchor a vessel within prohibited waters. Exception (3) Subsection (2) does not apply in respect of a pleasure craft. Addition to Schedule 1.‍1 (4) On the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, the Governor in Council may, by order, add a description of prohibited waters to Schedule 1.‍1. 2 The Act is amended by adding the following after section 37: Contravention of section 23.‍1 37.‍1 Every person who contravenes section 23.‍1 (anchoring in prohibited waters) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of not more than $100,000.‍ 3 The Act is amended by adding, after Schedule 1, the Schedule 1.‍1 set out in the schedule to this Act.
