Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:

The Israeli Knesset adopted, on March 30, 2026, a law authorizing the death penalty by hanging for certain Palestinian prisoners detained under military occupation;

This law applies exclusively to Palestinians tried by military courts, constituting discrimination based on national origin;

International organizations have documented the absence of fair trial guarantees, with conviction rates exceeding 99%; and

This law violates the Fourth Geneva Convention and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; more than 9,500 Palestinians are being held in concerning conditions documented by credible organizations.

We, the undersigned,citizens and residents of Canada, call upon thegovernment of Canadato 1. Publicly condemn this law and officially designate it as a violation of international humanitarian law;

2. Recall Canada’s ambassador to Israel and suspend bilateral trade and military agreements;

3. Support an independent United Nations investigation into the detention conditions of Palestinian prisoners.
